Earning and spending Stars

Not to be confused with Impact Points. Stars are the spendable balance; Points are a non-spendable record of what you have done. See Impact Points vs Impact Stars.

Your Stars live in a wallet in your account, where you can also see every credit and charge that made up the balance.

Amounts are not listed on this page — they are shown in the app at the point you earn or spend, which is the version that stays correct.

Earning them

Signing in each day. A daily reward that grows over a seven-day run, with the largest on the last day. See Referrals and daily rewards.

Connecting Telegram. A one-off reward, once per Telegram account. See Notifications: email and Telegram.

Sharing events. Credited when your submission is approved, with a completed form worth more than a bare link. You also earn each time somebody unlocks an outbound link on an event you shared. See Sharing an event you found.

Taking part. Having an application approved, confirming your place at an event, leaving feedback, and contributing as a volunteer, staff or speaker.

Referrals. See Referrals and daily rewards.

Spending them

Unlocking links on events added by someone other than their organizer — one link, or all of that event's links at once. See Reading an event page.

Revealing details about other people — on a friend's profile, their Impact Points, most frequent topics and activity overview; and at an event you attended, how closely another attendee's interests match the event's topics or your own.

Extra allowances — more of something your plan limits, such as additional shares for the day.

Plan time — days of a paid plan, personal or organizational. This is the big one: a busy weekend on a higher plan without a subscription. See Plans and limits.

Giving them away

You can send Stars directly to another person, or buy a code for someone to redeem — useful when you do not want to ask for their account.

An unredeemed code can be cancelled and refunded to you.

There is a rolling limit on how much you can send and receive over a thirty-day period. It exists to stop many accounts funnelling their free daily rewards into one, which would turn a reward for participating into a way of manufacturing a subscription. Ordinary gifts between friends do not come close to it.

Organizations have wallets too

An organization has its own wallet, separate from yours. Some things an organization does earn Stars into that wallet rather than into the wallet of the person who did them — publishing an event, for instance. Those Stars belong to the organization and are spent on the organization's plan and allowances.
