Profile, language and location

A few settings decide what Involvo shows you. They are worth five minutes once, because they quietly shape everything you see afterwards.

Your profile

Your name and picture, and what other people see when they look you up. What is visible to whom is covered in What other people can see about you.

Where you are

Setting your country and city does two things.

It filters the listing to events near you — and, less obviously, to events held elsewhere that accept people from where you are. That second group is the whole point of the Mobility filter, and it cannot work until Involvo knows where you are applying from. See Finding opportunities abroad.

If you leave your location unset, you see everything, everywhere, which sounds generous and is mostly noise.

Languages you can attend in

This one has a bigger effect than its size suggests.

An online event can be run in any language and reach you wherever you are, so language is the only thing that meaningfully narrows them. The languages you list here decide which online events you are shown.

Leaving it empty means you see all of them, not none. If your feed is full of online events you cannot follow, this is the setting to fix.

Set it to the languages you could genuinely sit through a workshop in, not every language you have studied.

Changing it later

All of it can be changed whenever you like. If your feed stops being useful, come back here first — it is more often a setting than a shortage of events.
