Following organizations

Following an organization is how you say "tell me when these people run something." It is the opposite of hunting through the feed hoping to catch an announcement.

Following and unfollowing

Open an organization's page and follow it. Unfollow from the same place at any time.

Each organization shows how many followers it has, and the people running it are told when someone new follows — so following a small organization is a visible, mildly encouraging act rather than an anonymous one.

The organizations you follow are listed on your profile, which is also the quickest way to prune the list later.

What you actually get

Organizations can send an announcement about an event to their followers.

This is strictly limited on their side: once a day per event, and only a small number of times in total for any given event, depending on their plan. So following does not open a tap. An organization that spams its followers runs out of allowance almost immediately, which is the intended design.

In practice, following means you hear about the events an organization considers worth announcing, not everything it does.

How many you can follow

There is a cap on how many organizations one account can follow, and it depends on your plan. See Plans and limits.

The cap is high enough that it is not a constraint for normal use. If you reach it, you are probably following organizations you no longer care about.

Follows that disappear

If an organization becomes inactive on Involvo, its followers are removed. You will not be told individually. Nothing has gone wrong with your account — the organization is no longer active.

Following is not membership

Following an organization does not make you part of it, does not give you any access to its events, and does not let you publish anything on its behalf. Getting the ability to act for an organization is a separate thing entirely — see Organization profiles and badges.
